Stearic Acid , also known as n-octadecanoic acid (C18H36O2), is a saturated, wax-like, Stearic Acid made by extraction from vegetable fats and oils. The versatility and cost effectiveness of the acid makes it a popular ingredient in countless types of products, from candles and cosmetics to plastics and paints. It is also very commonly used as a surfactant and softening agent and is also used in the production of pharmaceutical tablets and capsules.
